Reverse loop module with Arduino
Reversing loops remain a challenge with digital 2-rail model railways. Ideally, you want a solution without short circuits. In practice, this comes down to several occupancy detectors / detection sections that use a circuit to reverse the polarity of the reversing loop before the train reaches one of the insulations. The disadvantage of this approach is that you need up to four sections with all the wiring that comes with it.
It can be a lot easier. With a cheap Arduino clone, two light barriers and a handful of other parts you have the ultimate solution within reach. Without short circuits and with minimal wiring.
Please note: you only order the printed circuit board. You can buy the components and the Arduino Uno separately from Reichelt, for example. You can find the IS471FE and the stackable headers in our shop.
