LocoHubSupply: power supply for LocoNet
All LocoNet modules, with the exception of the modules with an external power supply, are powered from the LocoNet. On a large layout with various feedback decoders, various hand controllers and more digital bits, you will inevitably run into the maximum current of 500mA. The solution is to separately supply a part of your LocoNet with 12 Volt DC. The LocoHubSupply is a LocoHub with such a built-in power supply.
The circuit is built around the well-known 7812 voltage stabilizer. You can use 15 to 18 Volt alternating current as a power supply. The rectifier turns it into DC voltage and the capacitors smooth it out. The 500mA fuse serves as additional protection. Use a separate transformer for your LocoHubSupply, for example an old train transformer. You can also use a simple plug-in power supply. The power supply may supply both direct and alternating voltage.
