Island Platform with Stairs 2-Rail

Construction kit for a modern platform based on a Dutch prototype. H0 scale. Made from precision laser-cut MDF parts.

The island platform has a height of 15.9 mm. This is designed to match Roco, Tillig and Märklin K-track laid on a 3 mm layer of cork. The platform is 273 mm long and can be extended indefinitely and seamlessly by placing multiple kits end to end. Versions with and without stairs can, of course, be combined as desired.

The width of 81 mm is suitable for a track centre-to-centre spacing of approximately 123 mm. This is exactly twice the standard track spacing of the Roco Line track system. The platform consists of two layers of 1.0 mm MDF. Thanks to this double-layer construction, the platform is very strong. The stairs are made of plastic, and the railing is laser-cut from thin laserboard. The platform is available with or without tactile guidance paving.

Required tools

• Laser-cut adhesive, for example Deluxe Materials AD87.
  
• Scalpel and cutting mat.
  
• Preferably an airbrush.

Required paint

• Grey or black primer.
  
• Light shades of grey.
  
• White paint or a white paint marker.

Assembly

• Cut the parts free from the MDF sheet.
  
• Start with the base of the platform. Glue the sides and cross supports onto the top.
  
• Secure the parts with tape and allow everything to dry.
  
• Glue the top layer with the paving pattern onto the platform base.
  
• Do the same with the sides.
  
• Finally, glue the narrow strips along the upper edges of the sides.
  
• Fit the end panel if the platform ends at this point.
  
• Does your platform have stairs? Glue the laserboard parts together using a few drops of adhesive. The additional strips are fitted along the top edge to add thickness.
  
• You can spray the entire platform grey using an airbrush.
  
• For a more weathered appearance, spray the platform with black primer and then drybrush it with light shades of grey.
  
• Paint the warning paving and tactile guidance paving white using paint or a white paint marker.
